1. Reflect On Your Current State

It’s always a good idea to step back and take a little time to think. Thus, reflect on your current state and your progress last month.

Ask yourself questions like the following:

  • How did the month go?
  • What did I do well?
  • How should I improve?
  • What can I achieve this new month?

If you keep a journal, this is a perfect time to review it.

Through this process of reflection, you will come up with ideas for ways to change, adapt, and improve.

2. Set Your Intentions And Goals For The Month

Setting goals helps you organize, focus, prioritize, and maximize the impact of your actions.

And there are many benefits of monthly goals versus long-term objectives. Specifically, monthly planning lets you break down your intentions and desires into small chunks, creating faster results.

3. Refocus On Your Morning Routine

I believe in structure and routine at the start of each day.

Think about what you do each morning after waking up. Then, sculpt your actions into a satisfying routine.

The many benefits of taking a consistent and structured approach in the morning include:

  • Increased productivity
  • Higher energy
  • Promoting self-discipline
  • Feelings of control

But remember, you are unique. Thus, experiment and find a morning routine that works for you.

4. Improve Upon Your Daily Habits

Daily habits are the cornerstone of success in life. Furthermore, simple behaviors can set the tone for a better, happier, more productive you.

So, one of the best ways to reset each month is by focusing on your daily habits. Here are some suggested behaviors to improve upon:

  • Adopt a positive attitude
  • Take short breaks to reenergize
  • Say or do something nice
  • Become a better listener
  • Be kind, grateful, and tolerant

5. Exercise 3 Times Per Week

Have you let your exercise routine slip? I understand. It happens. So recommit to a regular exercise program this month.

For me, I live in a walkable community. So, I’m consistent about getting out several times per week. Thus, I log 15-20 miles weekly when I’m on my game.

However, my goal for this month is to work a few miles of jogging into that schedule. Also, add in some light dumbbell exercises for arm and shoulder strength.

6. Plan Your Meals

Planning your meals for the month is one of the best ways to reset and recharge.

Doing so limits the temptation to stop at your favorite fast-food restaurant on the way home or order out when it’s so easy.

Side benefits include saving money and a healthier diet.

7. Learn Something New

Exercise and nutrition are vital for physical health, and ongoing learning is critical for mental health. Thus, education should continue after your formal classroom years are over.

Get out of your comfort zone and pick something new to learn this month. Some possibilities for learning include:

  • Adopting a new technology
  • Joining a club or organization
  • Playing a new sport
  • Learning to meditate

8. Improve Your Finances

Improving your financial situation is an excellent way to increase your peace of mind.

So, consider making an extra payment on your debt. First, prioritize credit card debt if you have any. Then target your auto loan, student debt, or mortgage.

Becoming debt-free is an essential element of earning your financial freedom.

Conversely, if you have your debt under control, increase your savings. That extra cash in an emergency fund can significantly improve your financial situation.

9. Declutter Your Living Space

Choose at least one area of your home and declutter it. Your home office or bedroom closet are excellent options.

Be diligent. After several months, your entire home will be clutter-free.

10. Clean Your Home

Clean and organize your house each month. Consider switching up your furnishings to create a better flow.

By decluttering first, your cleaning and organizing tasks are more manageable.

11. Each Day, Create A To-Do List For Tomorrow

Before you wrap up each day, create your to-do list for tomorrow. Include the top three things you want to accomplish.

Doing so will fight off indecision and give you confidence and control of the new day ahead. Knowing the tasks ahead will calm your morning routine.

12. Journal Your Thoughts

End your day with creative thoughts. Ask yourself what went well and what you could do better.

Here’s your chance to get creative and dream a little. Journal these thoughts to reinforce them.

Doing so will allow you to process your emotions for the day and consider how to overcome any barriers you encounter.

Then, sleep on your thoughts and let your subconscious go to work solving your problems.
